is what many women strive for.

Monday Must Have...

Ija Designs

We're excited to finally have Ija Designs come down to Hawaii to do a special
jewelry trunk show with Cottage by the Sea!
Ija jewelry designs was first founded in 2007 by trained metalsmith, Erin
who had a niche for fine metals and a variety of textures.
With her creative eye, Erin started creating jewelry inspired by
different shapes, textures, and geometric lines that still
elude a sense of simplicity and fineness.

Join us on the weekend of April 28-29
to shop her extensive collection of earrings, necklaces, rings,
and bracelets! Our customers will also get
the chance to meet and greet with Erin in store!

Sunday Funday for Earth Day

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

In celebration of Earth Day 2012,
we've decided to shed a little light on
all things green!

Zorbella, our newest addition to Cottage by the Sea,
is a locally owned company started by two women with a love for plants and floral design.
Specializing in living plant arrangements for indoor living, they came up with
the concept of bringing the outside back in by incorporating
artistically crafted terrariums and other plant designs into a home and work environment.
Many of their well crafted arrangements are made with hand made vessels and locally sourced plants
found in different areas of Hawaii. Each creation brings a look of earthly simplicity
back into a space that lacks color and outdoor inspiration.

Inspire Me Wednesdays-

Shabby Chic Queen...
Rachel Ashwell

Author, Designer,  & Entrepreneur
Rachel Ashwell's name is the epitome of "shabby chic".
Born a London native, she set her sites on the US and opened up her first
shabby chic boutique in Santa Monica California in 1989.
For the past twenty years, she has kept her aesthetic of "finding beauty within imperfection"
in just about anything.

A word from Rachel…
“As both a mother and the creator of the Shabby Chic brand, my thoughts about decorating are that a home can be truly lived in and still be lovely. I believe in cozy relaxed settings where kids are free to put their feet on the sofa and guests can place their cups on the coffee table without a care. For me, the secret to living well is to surround myself with beautiful things that are practical and deliciously comfortable.
A faded, peeling old dresser, a cracked white chandelier, a chipped metal trash can painted with roses. To one person, these items are rejects from the junkyard, to another they are a bounty of riches. Discovering beauty in finding new uses for the old and worn discards of others greatly appeals to me, there is no better place to find the faded and decayed, the crumbing and the scuffed than a salvage yard or flea market, garage or estate sale”.

Love Notes Jewelry

Our new husband and wife team have created lots of lovely necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings and more with words, letters and messages of love. Made with recycled sterling silver and leather!

"I'm in love with the idea that these bits of paper and scraps of fabric had stories of their own before reaching my hands. And it tickles me to imagine that people who wear my work are reminded of events from their own storied pasts."- Betsy and Stephen
